Privacy Policy

ElfCrafter is operated as a Between Worlds project. This policy describes the website’s current, account-free features, including activities intended for children and families.

Information you enter

Unfinished elf designs and their names are kept automatically as recoverable drafts in your browser. Choosing Save adds or updates the elf in My Elves; drafts do not silently overwrite saved elves. Names entered to personalize a story or printable are processed in your browser and included in the output you create. They are not submitted to an ElfCrafter account or application database. Do not enter sensitive information or a child’s full name, address, school, or contact details.

A story’s boy or girl character choice controls which illustration files your browser requests from ElfCrafter. The choice is not saved as a profile or added to your collection backup. Your nickname and saved elf names are not included in those image requests.

Progress and device storage

We use browser storage for your elf collection, unfinished drafts, favorites, an optional book/page bookmark, activity counters, Passport awards, scores, sound preference, Advent rewards, backup-download reminders, and limited temporary hand-offs between tools. Bookmarks do not retain story nicknames or character choices. This information is not used for targeted advertising. See Cookies & Device Storage.

Hosting and technical requests

Cloudflare delivers and protects the website. Like any hosting provider, it receives technical request information such as IP addresses, requested URLs, browser information, and security signals. This is separate from the locally saved collection. We do not have an application service that uploads your elves or Passport to us. Cloudflare’s handling of service data is described in its privacy policy.

Analytics, advertising, and social sites

This version does not load Google Analytics, Umami, advertising tags, or embedded social tracking widgets. Fonts are served by ElfCrafter. Social sharing only opens a service when you choose it; that service receives the link or message you share and may collect its own information. Appearance-only recreation codes do not contain the elf name or a child's identity. There are no public profiles or public uploads.

Children and parental choices

We do not request accounts, email signups, photos, or contact information from children. Parents can review saved elves and unfinished drafts in My Elves, delete individual designs, discard drafts, and export a backup. To remove all locally stored data, use this browser’s settings to clear site data for elfcrafter.com. Export first if you want to keep the collection or Passport. We cannot recover browser data after it is cleared.

Backups and sharing

A backup is a file you download to your own device. Importing reads the file locally; it is not uploaded to a server. The file includes saved and draft elf names and designs, favorites, a book/page bookmark if chosen, progress, dates, and earned rewards. Keep it private. Printable files and social messages go only where you choose to save or share them.

Retention and security

Local information remains until you delete it, clear site storage, or your browser removes it. Technical hosting data is handled under the provider’s practices. No online or device storage is infallible. We minimize the information requested and recommend keeping a separate backup.

Questions and changes

See Help & Contact for self-service guidance and current contact availability. There is no public support channel at present. Please do not send a child’s personal information or private backup file. If advertising or data practices change, this policy and any required consent choices must be updated before those features are enabled.
